Getting dental implants in Rochdale
If you’ve had enough of wearing dentures, or you are facing the prospect of missing teeth for the first time, dental implants in Rochdale are well worth considering. Dental implants offer a permanent replacement for missing teeth – and dental professionals agree that nothing looks or feels as close to a natural tooth.
Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or to secure your dentures in place. Effective and realistic, dental implants mimic the root of a natural tooth and are typically made from super-strong titanium – a biocompatible material to which your natural bone gradually fuses, locking the implant into place. The new ‘tooth’ – usually a crown or a bridge – is then attached to the implant. Make an appointment with our Rochdale team to discuss the your suitability for dental implants and the options available to you.
Why choose implants?
Dental implants allow you to…
…Enjoy a permanent replacement for missing teeth. Unlike crowns, bridges and dentures, which have to be replaced over the years, dental implants are a lifelong solution if cared for properly.
…Boost your confidence and quality of life. With dental implants, you can once again take for granted the ability to eat, speak and smile without discomfort or fear of embarrassment. They look as good as they feel, and feel as good as they look.
…Look younger for longer. Yes really! Because dental implants are integrated into your jaw bone, they keep it supported and prevent the shrinkage that occurs over time when teeth are missing. This in turn avoids the ageing effects of premature facial sagging, which is caused by missing teeth.
Implants Vs. Dentures
Dental implants are an excellent solution to consider if you are facing the prospect of losing all your teeth, or if you already wear dentures. You don’t need to have a dental implant for every tooth that is missing; instead, a minimal number of dental implants can be used to anchor a full-arch denture in place. This permanently prevents the movement and slippage that plagues so many wearers of dentures, creating a renewed ability to eat, speak and smile with complete confidence. Dental implants also mitigate against jawbone shrinkage, a common problem affecting wearers of dentures.

Need to Know: Before Implant Treatment
- As with all surgery, you will undergo a number of in-depth consultations with your dentist before deciding whether dental implants are right for you.
- Your dentist is unlikely to carry out the procedure if your gums are not in a healthy condition – for example, if you smoke, or have had radiotherapy in the past. There is no upper age limit for implants, however dentists usually encourage young people to delay having them until adulthood, when their jaw has fully formed.
- Prior to the procedure, your dentist will talk through everything you can expect to experience. You will be asked to sign a consent form and sit for X-rays.
Need to Know: After Implant Treatment
- When the procedure is complete, you will be able to go home fairly quickly.
- The anaesthetic wears off after a few hours, after which you can control any pain using over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol.
- Your dentist will send you home with a comprehensive aftercare plan, designed to aid a speedy recovery. Regular post-surgery check-ups with the dentist will also be required. You may be fitted with a temporary restoration and them several months later and once your new implant has havd the chance to ingrate fully with your jawbone, your final crown, bridge or denture can be placed.
